The Hastings Hinterland weaves together family farms serving communities near and far with milk, cheese, potatoes, blueberries, avocados, pork, beef, garlic, macadamias and so much more.

The valleys and mountains are watered by a network of springs, streams and rivers ultimately feeding into the mighty Hastings as it flows to meet the sea at Port Macquarie.  It is these tributaries which keep the Hastings growing.

Many of the farms have been in the same family for generations and those farmers tell of travelling to local schools on horseback every day.  But there are also new faces and families who have chosen to ‘tree change’ and swap their city lifestyles for the joy and satisfaction of caretaking the land and providing food for the table.

Farmers markets help us understand about seasonal produce, healthy and sustainable growing techniques, the challenges farmers face in drought and flood (and many weather events in between!)

By connecting with farmers we respect their labours, struggles and efforts. We honour the animals who die that we might eat. We understand that farm fresh food is full of nutrients and goodness that heals and nurtures us.

Wauchope Farmers Market brings the growers, makers, bakers and creatives together on the FOURTH Saturday of every month at Wauchope Showgrounds, from 8am until 12pm.
